What the Body Is Holding

What the Body Is Holding

Today was another great day, even though I’m not feeling too great physically. The right side of my chest and back are hurting in the same spot, along with my neck and lower back, so I’m taking it easy and going to bed early. There is something about being able to say both things at once: I am uncomfortable, and today was still good.

I did my walk and had yoga, where the focus was anger. We did an exercise that involved snoring, which sounds simple enough, but I noticed something almost immediately. When I started, it was difficult. I could fake the sound, but there was something in my voice that felt restricted. The more I did it, the more it became a release. By the end, I could hear the difference. My voice was clearer.

That stayed with me.

Sometimes I think we expect release to arrive through the perfect words, a profound realization, or some beautiful spiritual practice. But sometimes release sounds like snoring. Sometimes the body needs permission to make noise, move energy, loosen what has been held, and express something before the mind fully understands it.

And maybe anger is like that too.

What have I been holding that my body already knows about? What changes when I stop immediately trying to explain a feeling and instead become curious about where it lives, how it sounds, and what it might need in order to move?

Today I worked some, journaled, walked, practiced yoga, and listened. I didn’t spend time with my books or content, and that is okay. Tomorrow is available for that. Tonight, my body is asking me to take it easy.

I’m learning that honoring myself is not only about doing the things that support my well-being. Sometimes it is recognizing when rest is one of those things.

I am grateful for another day. Grateful for what my body is showing me. Grateful for release, even when it arrives in unexpected forms. And I’m excited for what’s next.

Alchemy Reflection: What might your body, voice, or emotions be holding that doesn’t need to be explained yet—only noticed, felt, and given permission to move?

Mantra: I listen without judgment. I allow what I am holding to move through me, and I honor my body when it asks for rest.
