I Can See Myself

At the beginning of August, I pulled a card with one simple intention: I wanted something that would help me stay grounded, focused, and intentional for the month ahead.
The message invited me to begin each day expecting to see what I wanted to see. So I made it personal.
I can see myself.
I can see myself finishing the manuscript. I can see myself completing my daily wellness rituals. I can see myself doing the things I have been imagining myself doing.
And throughout August, I kept noticing how powerful those words became. Not because everything magically happened simply because I said them, but because saying I can see myself helped me recognize possibility before there was evidence. It helped me participate in what I was creating.
So this morning, August 31, I decided to pull another card for September. Before I even touched the deck, I had already decided that whatever message I received, I was going to place “I can see myself” in front of it.
I shuffled. And shuffled. And shuffled. Nothing fell. Then somehow, one card became caught in the tiny groove of my finger. I immediately felt something inside me say: This is my card.
When I opened my eyes, the message began: “I see myself attracting only those in harmony with my current intent.”
I laughed. Because of course it did. Synchronicity sometimes feels like life whispering back a sentence you have already been speaking.
The card continued with a reminder that I am becoming clearer about what I want, that what other people choose is not mine to control, and that what matters is being pleased with what I see in myself. It felt delicious. Aligned. Almost too on point.
And apparently, the morning was not finished with me. I reached for the very first tarot deck I ever purchased, a Native American–inspired deck called Vision Quest Tarot. I have owned it for at least ten years, but I realized I had never actually sat down and read the book from the beginning. I usually pull a card, find its meaning, receive what I need, and move on. This time, I slowed down.
While shuffling, what I thought was one card fell from the deck. It was three.
The guide suggested reading a three-card spread as the present: the essence of the question, what hinders you, and what helps you.
The first card was Father of Air. Its message was about mental strength, clear thinking, focused intention, decisiveness, and trusting my own perceptiveness. You know better than anyone what is right for you and what is not.
Then came Two of Earth: Change—in the position of what hinders me. Allowing transformation. Flowing with life. Non-attachment. Letting go. Renouncing the need to complicate.
That one got my attention. Because sometimes the thing standing between us and what we say we want is not a lack of clarity. Sometimes we know exactly what we want. We are simply still trying to control how it arrives.
The final card, what helps me, was Eight of Earth: Inner Order. Slow but steady development. Self-discipline. Honesty. Diligence. Groundedness. And the reminder I may need most: You don’t have to control every detail to achieve what you want.
There it was. Clarity. Change. Inner order.
Trust what I know. Allow what is changing. Tend faithfully to what is mine. And stop interfering with every detail of the unfolding.
That feels like an invitation for September, but maybe it is also an invitation for any moment when we find ourselves standing at the edge of a new month, a new season, a new beginning, or simply a new version of ourselves.
Before deciding what you need to accomplish next, perhaps ask yourself: What can I already see for myself? What intention keeps returning to you? What are you becoming clearer about? What change are you being asked to stop resisting? Where might life be asking for less control and more trust? And what would it look like to create a little more inner order—not through pressure or perfection, but through the quiet discipline of tending to what matters?
I am entering this next month saying:
I can see myself trusting what I know. I can see myself allowing change. I can see myself attracting what is in harmony with my intentions. I can see myself staying grounded while what is meant for me unfolds.
And maybe that is where intention begins. Not with knowing exactly how everything will happen. But with being able to see yourself there.
I am grateful for the messages. I am grateful for the synchronicity. And I am grateful for every reminder that I am connected.
